2. Overview
travo.ai is an iOS app for AI-powered travel planning and social travel features. The protection of your personal data is important to us. This Privacy Policy informs you about what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.
3. Data we collect
3.1 Account data
When you register through Sign in with Apple, we receive:
- Your Apple ID (a unique identifier)
- Your name (if you choose to share it)
- Your email address (or an Apple-generated relay address)
You also create a username and optionally a display name.
3.2 Profile data
- Profile pictures and carousel photos
- Bio, interests, travel style, languages
- Visited countries and cities
- Vacation periods
- Currency preference
3.3 Travel data
- Destinations, dates, travel style, and preferences you enter for AI planning
- Generated itineraries
- Uploaded screenshots (during trip optimization)
3.4 Communication data
- Messages in direct and group chats
- Images you share in chats
3.5 Technical data
- Device type and operating system version
- FCM token for push notifications
- Crash reports and usage statistics (via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics)
4. How we use your data
- AI travel planning: Your travel preferences are sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate personalized itineraries. Anthropic does not retain this data on a permanent basis.
- Flight prices: We use the Travelpayouts/Aviasales API to retrieve current flight prices. Departure and destination as well as travel dates are transmitted.
- Hotel search: Hotel prices are retrieved via Skyscanner. City and travel dates are transmitted.
- Images: Unsplash is used for travel images. Your personal data is not transmitted to Unsplash.
- Places: Google Places is used for place information.
- Social features: Your profile, messages, and friend requests are stored in Firebase Firestore.
- Push notifications: We send notifications about new messages, trip invitations, and friend requests via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Subscriptions: RevenueCat processes your subscription data. Payments are handled directly through Apple.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, storage, analytics, cloud messaging. Privacy
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI travel planning. Privacy
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Privacy
- Travelpayouts — flight pricing data. Privacy
- Skyscanner — hotel and flight links. Privacy
- Google Places — location data. Privacy
- Unsplash — travel images. Privacy
6. Data storage
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers in the EU (region europe-west3, Frankfurt). We retain your data for as long as your account exists. Upon account deletion, all associated data is deleted within 30 days.
7. Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the data we have stored about you
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion of your data
- Restriction of processing
- Data portability
- Object to processing

8. Your rights under California law (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you also have the right to:
- Know which personal information we collect about you and how it is used
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information — note: we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

9. Push notifications
You can disable push notifications at any time in your iOS system settings or in the app's settings. We distinguish between categories (messages, trips, deals, general) that you can control individually.
10. Children
travo.ai is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can delete it.
11. International data transfers
We are based in Germany. If you access the App from outside the EU, your data is transferred to and processed in the EU (Frankfurt). For users in the United States, this means your data is processed in a jurisdiction with different data protection rules than the U.S.
Our third-party processors (such as Anthropic, RevenueCat, Google) may process data in the U.S. We ensure an adequate level of data protection through Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards as required by applicable law.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email.
